Thanks for reading Rick! I bought the AMD Ryzen 9 5950x for 890 Euros — but it is definitely overkill (but like you, I prefer the word “fun” 🤣). But that’s the point —when doing it yourself, a bit of overkill becomes totally affordable.
The VitualBox idea is quite common and I guess totally valid in some circumstances — if your development required you to switch constantly between OS’s, for example. A bunch of memory and a few spare CPU Cores will make this seamless as you said. I don’t need to do this so I can’t really comment… sorry.
Personally I have dual booted my system so I can go to Windows if I need to, but I rarely need to, so dual booting makes sense.
